Will the stock market be open or closed for Eid-ul-Fitr 2025? Investors, don’t miss this update

The Indian stock market ended the financial year 2025 on a positive note, gaining 5% despite concerns over possible new tariffs from the U.S. under Donald Trump’s leadership. While investors are keeping an eye on global trade policies, many in India are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr.

Eid-ul-Fitr is a festival that does not have a fixed date, as it depends on the sighting of the crescent moon. This year, there was uncertainty about whether Eid would be celebrated on March 31 or April 1, 2025. However, the moon was sighted on Sunday evening, confirming that Eid will be celebrated today, March 31.

Due to this uncertainty, many investors were unsure whether the stock markets would be open or closed. However, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) follow a fixed holiday schedule. According to their official calendars, both stock markets, along with the currency derivatives segment, will remain closed today, March 31, for Eid-ul-Fitr.
