Russia has brushed off the latest warning from the United States about possible new sanctions, saying these threats are nothing new. A spokesperson from Russia’s Foreign Ministry said, “New US sanctions are no longer surprising to us. We do not accept threats.”
This reaction came after US President Donald Trump gave Russia a 50-day deadline to agree to a peace deal with Ukraine. He also announced a military aid plan for Ukraine, backed by NATO member countries.

At first, Russia said it was taking Trump’s warning seriously and needed time to understand what the US had proposed. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, “The President’s statement is very serious. We need time to review it.”

Russia also said it was waiting for Ukraine’s suggestions on when to hold the third round of peace talks.
President Trump has warned that if no peace deal is reached, strict tariffs will be placed on Russia’s trading partners. The goal is to cut off money that is helping to fund Russia’s war efforts.
The Russia-Ukraine war is now in its fourth year, with no clear progress toward peace.
