The Toyota Innova Hycross has created a major milestone by becoming the first MPV in India and the first Toyota vehicle to receive a 5-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP).

In the crash tests, it delivered an outstanding performance by scoring 30.47 out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and an impressive 45 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection (COP). The child safety rating was boosted by features like ISOFIX mounts and compatibility with recommended Child Restraint Systems (CRS), helping the car achieve a perfect 24 out of 24 in dynamic crash testing.

In the Adult Occupant Protection test, the Hycross scored 14.47 out of 16 in the frontal offset crash test, with body regions like the head, thighs, and feet receiving a ‘good’ safety rating, while the driver’s chest and left shin were marked as ‘adequate’. It scored full 16 points in the side impact test and received an ‘OK’ grade in the side pole crash test.

For child safety, the vehicle earned 24/24 in dynamic testing using 18-month and 3-year-old crash test dummies, 12/12 for CRS installation, and the remaining 9 points were awarded based on the car’s structure and safety-assist features.
