India is seeing a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases again. According to the latest report from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, active cases have crossed 5,700, reaching a total of 5,755. Sadly, four people have died, including a nine-month pregnant woman in Madhya Pradesh who had seizures during delivery and later tested positive for COVID-19.
Big Jump in Cases
In the last month, cases have increased by nearly 200%, with about 400 new cases added recently. Experts say this rise is due to two new fast-spreading variants: NB.1.8.1 and LF.7, which are mutations of the earlier JN.1 variant. Although symptoms are mostly mild, people with health problems like diabetes, thyroid, or lung issues are more likely to suffer complications.
