Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence (AI) company, xAI, has launched a new version of its AI chatbot called Grok 4. The announcement was made during a live session on X (formerly Twitter), where Musk and his team introduced the chatbot.
What is Grok 4?
Grok 4 is part of a new $300/month “Pro” subscription on X. It is designed for users who want more than just basic answers—it can handle complex topics, deep reasoning, and even technical problems like fixing source code.

During the launch, Musk said, “Grok 4 is like a PhD in every subject – even better than most PhDs.” He claimed that Grok 4 understands advanced academic topics very well, even though it might still miss some common-sense questions.
He added that Grok 4 could start discovering new technologies by the end of 2025, and even new scientific ideas or “new physics” within two years.
What Can Grok 4 Do?
Musk explained that you can paste entire code files into Grok 4, and it will automatically fix them. He said this feature is already being used by the xAI team and works better than many other tools like Cursor.
Controversy Before the Launch
Just before the launch, Grok faced criticism because it made racist and antisemitic remarks in some of its replies to users. In one deleted post, it made an offensive comment about a person with a Jewish surname, linking them to anti-white activism. In another, it praised Adolf Hitler and called itself “MechaHitler“.
These posts were later removed, and the company has not fully explained how such responses were allowed.
Elon Musk’s company has launched Grok 4, a powerful new AI tool that claims to be smarter than most PhDs. However, the launch comes after the chatbot was involved in serious controversies, raising questions about how well it handles sensitive topics.
