These Indian strikes follow earlier attacks by Pakistan after India’s counter-terror operation called Operation Sindoor, which was launched in response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
The Ministry of Defence stated that this was a “limited and targeted operation” with efforts made to avoid harming civilians.
Pakistan’s Escalation
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi shared that Pakistan has been repeatedly attacking India’s western border using drones, long-range missiles, and fighter jets. She revealed that:
- Pakistan tried to infiltrate India from the air at over 26 places.
- Indian bases in Udhampur, Bhuj, Pathankot, and Bathinda suffered damage.
- At 1:40 AM, Pakistan used high-speed missiles to attack a base in Punjab.
- Even hospitals and schools inside Indian Air Force bases in Srinagar, Avantipur, and Udhampur were targeted.
She called these attacks on civilian areas completely unacceptable and against international rules.
India’s Response and Warnings
Wing Commander Singh emphasized that India’s response was well-planned and limited to military targets. She also denied Pakistan’s false claims of destroying India’s S-400 defense system and airfields in Surat and Sirsa.
She warned that Pakistan seems to be moving more troops towards the border, showing signs of preparing for further attacks. However, she confirmed that India is ready and fully prepared but does not want to escalate the conflict unless provoked.
India Calls Out Pakistan’s Propaganda
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri also spoke at the briefing. He said that Pakistan is responsible for starting the conflict, and India has reacted responsibly. He criticized Pakistan for spreading lies and propaganda, especially claims about destroying Indian military sites, which he said are completely false.
Misri also pointed out the difference between the two countries, saying that in India, citizens are free to criticize the government, which shows the strength of democracy—a concept he said Pakistan does not understand well.
