In the first phase, they aim to start with 500 MW, and in the long run, they plan to reach 5000 MW of clean energy in the state. In the joint venture company (JVC), NIRL will hold 74% of the shares, while MAHAPREIT will hold 26%.
As part of this partnership:
- MAHAPREIT will help find and allot land for these projects and support the creation of power lines to send electricity to the main power grid.
- NIRL will prepare detailed project plans, arrange funds, and manage the setup of the energy projects.
Government Support:
The Hon’ble Secretary (Coal), Government of India, said this agreement shows the government’s strong support for clean energy and teamwork. He highlighted Maharashtra’s great potential for renewable energy and praised both NIRL’s expertise and MAHAPREIT’s local support. He also mentioned that even the coal sector is now actively helping India move towards clean energy and climate safety.
