The Nothing Phone (3) is coming soon, and the company has been teasing some big changes. One of the biggest surprises? It might not have the Glyph Interface — the unique LED lights on the back of the phone that made previous models stand out.
In a short and dramatic video shared on social media, Nothing showed the original Phone (1)’s lights turning off completely. The video was captioned, “we killed the Glyph Interface”, hinting that this popular feature might be gone for good.

What Was the Glyph Interface?
The Glyph Interface was more than just decoration. These LED lights served as notification alerts, timers, battery indicators, and even soft light for taking photos. It was one of the most unique features in any smartphone.
What’s Replacing It?
Though Nothing hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet, rumours suggest that the Phone (3) may use a new design with dot-matrix-style displays. Recent teaser videos show pixel-like animations, including an old-school number “3” and retro game vibes (like Pac-Man). This could mean we’ll see animated pixel graphics on the back of the phone — a fun throwback in a modern design.
Still, removing the Glyph lights is a bold move. They helped Nothing stand out when it launched the Phone (1) in 2022. Without them, it’s unclear how the brand will continue to be different from other phones.
Nothing Phone (3) Price Hike
Another big change? The price.
Nothing co-founder Carl Pei has hinted that the Phone (3) will be much more expensive than the older models. He even warned fans that it “won’t be cheap”.
This is because the Phone (3) is expected to be Nothing’s first real flagship phone, meaning it will have high-end specs, a better build, and possibly new tech like the dot-matrix display.
Pei has suggested a price of around £800 — that’s about Rs 92,000 in Indian currency. But don’t panic just yet. Nothing usually adjusts prices for India, one of its biggest markets.
Experts believe the Indian price may fall between Rs 60,000 and Rs 70,000, which is still a big jump from the Phone (2)’s starting price of Rs 44,999. But with better cameras, a flagship processor, and a new design, it might be worth the extra cost.
