
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin a major foreign tour on Wednesday, July 2, visiting five countries in eight days. This will be his longest overseas trip in the last 10 years. During this tour, he will travel across two continents — Africa and South America — and visit Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia.
The purpose of this visit is to attend the BRICS Summit in Brazil and to strengthen India’s relations with key countries of the Global South.

This is Modi’s second five-nation tour as Prime Minister. The last one was in 2016, when he visited the USA, Mexico, Switzerland, Afghanistan, and Qatar.
Country-Wise Schedule of the Visit:
1. Ghana (July 2–3)
- This will be PM Modi’s first visit to Ghana and the first Indian prime ministerial visit in 30 years.
- He will meet the President of Ghana to talk about growing partnerships in areas like economy, energy, and defence.
2. Trinidad and Tobago (July 3–4)
- Modi will be in Trinidad and Tobago for two days.
- It is the first visit by an Indian PM since 1999.
- He will meet the President and the Prime Minister of the country.
- Modi is also expected to address their Parliament.
- The visit will help deepen the strong historic bond between India and Trinidad and Tobago.
3. Argentina (July 4–5)
- In Argentina, PM Modi will meet President Javier Milei.
- The two leaders will discuss ways to improve cooperation in defence, agriculture, mining, energy, trade, and investment.
- This visit aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between India and Argentina.
4. Brazil (July 5–8)
- Modi will attend the 17th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
- He is also scheduled to go on a state visit to Brazil.
- At the summit, leaders will discuss important global issues like:
- Global governance reforms
- Peace and security
- Climate change
- Artificial intelligence
- Health and economy
- Modi will also have bilateral talks with Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to boost cooperation in areas like trade, space, defence, agriculture, and health.
5. Namibia (Final Stop)
- Modi’s last stop will be Namibia, marking only the third time an Indian PM has visited the country.
- He will meet President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and is also expected to address Namibia’s Parliament.
- The visit highlights the deep-rooted and historic relationship between India and Namibia.
This eight-day journey from July 2 to July 9 reflects India’s growing focus on strengthening global partnerships, especially with countries in the Global South.
