Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant is well-known for his fun and constant chatter behind the stumps. Fans often hear him saying funny things or chatting with teammates through the stump mic during matches.
As India prepares for the third Test at Lord’s, Pant revealed the reason behind his talkative nature on the field. He credited his childhood coach, the late Tarak Sinha, for teaching him this habit.
“My coach, late Tarak Sinha, always told me to keep talking to myself. I’ve been doing that since I was a kid. It really helps me,” Pant said while speaking to reporters before the third Test begins on Thursday.

The 27-year-old, who recently appeared at Wimbledon, also spoke about India’s team combination, how they managed without star bowler Jasprit Bumrah in the second Test, and his strong partnership with captain Shubman Gill.
With Bumrah taking a break, young bowler Akash Deep stepped up and impressed everyone by taking 10 wickets – four in the first innings and six in the second – helping India win by 336 runs at Edgbaston.

Pant praised Akash Deep and also appreciated Shubman Gill, who is leading India in Test matches for the first time after Rohit Sharma retired from red-ball cricket.
“When you share a good bond off the field, it’s easier to communicate during the match,” Pant said.
He added, “Even though Bumrah wasn’t playing, Siraj and Akash Deep did a great job.”
