Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has openly criticized the BCCI’s team selection for the upcoming Test series against England. He is unhappy with the exclusion of middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer, who has been in great form recently.
Shreyas Iyer was the top scorer for Punjab Kings in IPL 2025 and has performed consistently over the past year. With senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma missing from the squad, many expected Shreyas to get a chance in the playing XI. However, he was not selected.

Speaking to RevSportz, Ganguly said,
“He’s been playing very well over the past year. He’s scoring runs under pressure, playing short balls better, and taking responsibility. Even though Test cricket is different, I would have picked him to see how he performs.”
Eddie Jack Impresses England Ahead of India Series
In other news, England has invited 19-year-old fast bowler Eddie Jack to practice with the senior team before the Test series against India. Jack performed well in two unofficial Test matches for England Lions against India A, especially by dismissing KL Rahul, who had scored a century.
Standing 6 feet 4 inches tall, Jack has caught the eye of coaches like Andrew Flintoff, Mark Wood, and Graeme Swann. Though he hasn’t played a County Championship match yet, he’s already made a mark in first-class cricket with some strong performances.
Jack also took five wickets last month in a warm-up game against Zimbabwe. During the match in Northampton, he impressed by troubling Indian batters like Nitish Reddy and Dhruv Jurel, eventually dismissing Jurel and finishing with 2 wickets for 71 runs.
India will begin their five-match Test series against England on June 20 at Headingley, marking the start of their new World Test Championship cycle.
