Donald Trump is known for one thing—he knows how to change the topic. When things get hard, he finds a way to distract the public. But this time, Trump is in trouble. His tricks are not working.
The reason? Jeffrey Epstein.

Trump’s name is now tied again to the old scandal involving Epstein, the convicted sex offender who died in prison in 2019. People want answers. And surprisingly, it’s not just Democrats asking questions. Many of Trump’s own supporters are angry and demanding the truth.
This is different from the past. During Trump’s first term, he managed to escape tough moments. He survived impeachments. He beat the Russia investigation. And he always had support from his base. But now, it’s that same base that feels betrayed.
Even after years, people still don’t trust how the Epstein case was handled. And when they see Trump’s name in the documents, they want to know more.
Trump has tried everything.
He shouted at reporters. He said he didn’t know much about Epstein. He tried to talk about other topics—like blaming Obama for old intelligence decisions. He even went to the Federal Reserve to complain about interest rates.
But none of it worked.
“The only people talking about this are the media and the Democrats,” said Trump’s spokesman. But that’s not true. His own fans online are also asking: Why is Trump quiet about Epstein?
Some leaders, like former Georgia Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan, say Trump’s political game is catching up to him. He used conspiracy theories to win support for years. But now, those same people want real facts.
A recent poll from Reuters/Ipsos shows most Americans believe Trump’s government is hiding something about Epstein. And that includes many Republicans.
Even Democratic Senator Mark Warner said on X (formerly Twitter), “The Trump team is throwing distractions every day to avoid talking about Epstein files.”
Trump tried to use Tulsi Gabbard and talk about Obama, but even Republican strategists say it’s a weak move.
Brad Todd, a GOP adviser, said the better strategy was to talk about the economy. “Forget Obama. Go to the Fed every day,” he said.
But Trump is stuck. His usual playbook isn’t helping. And his supporters want more than talk. They want the Epstein files.
In the end, even though Trump has survived bigger storms, this one is different. The pressure is coming from inside his own house.
And the distraction game? It’s failing.
