Mindy Rasmussen, a 47-year-old woman from Illinois, USA, traveled to Pakistan to marry her online friend, Sajid Zeb Khan, who is 31 years old and lives in Upper Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They met a year ago through Facebook and developed a strong bond over time.

Mindy arrived in Pakistan earlier this month on a 90-day visit visa. She later converted to Islam and chose the name Zulekha before getting married to Sajid. According to Sajid, Mindy made her decisions freely and was not pressured by anyone. “She is a mature woman and we both are marrying with full consent,” he told

Before coming to Pakistan, Mindy had informed her family, including her father, sister, and brother. They supported her decision and were happy for her. When she landed at Islamabad International Airport, Sajid welcomed her with flowers. From there, they traveled to Dir, where Sajid’s family and neighbors warmly welcomed her.

Speaking to media, Mindy praised the country, calling it peaceful and beautiful. “The hospitality and kindness I’ve experienced here are more than I expected,” she said. She also encouraged others to visit Pakistan to experience its rich culture and welcoming people.

Mindy said her husband Sajid is loving, humble, and respectful, which made her fall in love with him. After their wedding, she plans to return to the US to complete immigration paperwork so that Sajid can join her there in the future.
