Shubman Gill, who is about to face one of the biggest tests of his cricket career, will soon captain the Indian Test team in Leeds, England. With many senior players now gone, Gill will have to take on more responsibility. One person who can support him is his new coach, Gautam Gambhir.
In a recent interview with Dinesh Karthik for Sky Cricket, Gill was asked about his experience of working with two very different coaches — Gautam Gambhir with the Indian team and Ashish Nehra with Gujarat Titans in the IPL.

Gill said, “It’s going to be fun working with someone like Gautam bhai (Gambhir).” He explained that Ashish Nehra is very active and expressive on the field. “Ashu pa is always involved, very animated. His personality shows in his coaching style,” Gill added.
In contrast, Gill said that Gambhir is more serious, focused, and clear in what he expects from the players. “Gauti bhai is very determined and committed. He is very clear in his communication and always talks about the mindset and attitude he wants from the team,” said Gill.
Although both coaches are very different in their styles, Gill believes that they are working towards the same goal — building a successful team. “Their approaches might be different, but the destination is the same,” he said.
Gambhir is known for his serious and intense nature as a coach, while Nehra enjoys staying on the sidelines, staying close to the players and getting involved in every moment. Gill appreciates learning from both styles, as it gives him a better understanding of team building.

With Gill stepping into a high-pressure role as Test captain, learning from experienced mentors like Gambhir and Nehra could help him grow into a strong leader. Whether his partnership with Gambhir works well will become clear in the upcoming matches in England.
