After the Mumbai Indians won a thrilling match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025, Mark Boucher, a former South African cricketer, shared his thoughts on Rohit Sharma’s performance. Boucher believes that Rohit is ready to score a big innings soon, especially after his strong start in the match.
During the run chase of 163 runs at Wankhede Stadium, Rohit came in and hit 26 runs off just 16 balls, including three sixes. He looked like he was about to play a big knock, but he was caught at cover off a delivery from Pat Cummins early in his innings.

Despite Rohit’s early departure, Mumbai Indians finished the chase in the 19th over, winning by four wickets and securing their second consecutive victory in the tournament. Boucher praised Rohit for his aggressive approach, saying, “Rohit Sharma took it upon himself to attack the bowlers. We saw his signature sixes – big ones. I liked his attitude, and he put pressure on the bowlers. He’s getting close to a big score. He’s in the right zone again.”

Will Jacks was another standout performer for Mumbai. He was impressive with both bat and ball. He took 2 wickets for just 14 runs in 3 overs and also top-scored for Mumbai with 36 runs off 26 balls. Boucher mentioned that Jacks had been under pressure earlier in the tournament but showed great resilience. “Will Jacks is a genuine all-rounder, not just a part-time spinner. He bowled really well and picked up some key wickets, which helped him feel more confident with the bat,” Boucher said.
Boucher also talked about Hardik Pandya’s performance. Pandya took 1 wicket for 42 runs and is currently second in the Purple Cap race. He also scored 21 runs off 9 balls while batting. Boucher praised Pandya as one of the best all-rounders in the world, saying, “When Hardik is performing well, the team usually wins. I love his new role with the ball – he’s not only bowling in the powerplay but also in the middle overs. He’s picking up wickets and that gives him more confidence, which shows in his batting.”
