
In January, a special NIA court had issued a non-bailable warrant against gangster Harpreet Singh, also known as Happy Passia. This was related to a grenade attack at a house in Chandigarh last year.
Recently, Happy Passia, who was on the run and wanted in connection with 14 grenade attacks in Punjab, has been caught in the United States. According to the FBI, he is linked to two international terrorist organizations. They also said he entered the US illegally and used burner phones to avoid being tracked.

Punjab has seen 16 grenade attacks in the past seven months. These attacks were aimed at police stations, religious places, and homes of important people, including BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia. Happy Passia’s name came up during investigations of at least 14 of these attacks.
He was also named in the chargesheet filed by the NIA, along with Harwinder Singh Sandhu, also known as Rinda, a terrorist based in Pakistan.
