India’s Solar Revolution Begins! CIL Announces Tender for 200 MW Solar Factory in Uttar Pradesh – Are You Ready for the Green Future?

CIL Tender for 200 MW Solar Panel Factory in Uttar Pradesh

Central Electronics Limited (CEL) has announced a tender to choose a company that will set up a 200 MW solar panel manufacturing plant at its facility in Sahibabad, Uttar Pradesh. The project is part of the government’s ‘Make in India’ campaign. Companies interested in bidding must submit their offers by May 14, 2025. The bids must be valid for at least 90 days after the request for proposal (RFP) is opened.

Uttar Pradesh Becoming a Hub for Solar Manufacturing

Uttar Pradesh is quickly becoming an important place for solar panel production. Companies like Avaada Electro are already building large factories there. Recently, Avaada Group opened a 1.5 GW solar panel factory in Noida, with Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath present. The company is also building a 5 GW solar manufacturing unit in Greater Noida, which will cost around Rs 13,650 crore. This factory will produce everything from the raw materials to the final solar panels.

In addition, Alpex Solar, based in Greater Noida, is planning to expand its solar panel production by 1.6 GW with a new factory. They will invest Rs 642 crore in this expansion.

New Solar Park in Jalaun

In another exciting development, NHPC, a government-owned company, has approved the creation of a 1,200 MW solar park in Jalaun district. They have cleared an investment of Rs 797 crore for this project, including interest during construction. NHPC will invest Rs 239 crore in Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited (BSUL), a company it owns together with the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA), which will carry out the project.
