Tata Altroz Facelift Launching on May 22 – New Features Teased

Tata Motors has released the first teaser of the new Altroz facelift, which will be officially launched on May 22. Since its debut in January 2020, the Altroz has seen updates in features and engine options, but this is the first major design upgrade.

What’s New in the Tata Altroz Facelift?

  1. New Design Changes:
    • The front of the car gets a fresh look with new LED headlamps, a revised grille, and updated bumpers.
    • It features new LED daytime running lights and fog lamp housings with a vertical design.
    • The back now has T-shaped LED tail lights connected by a light bar, giving it a modern look.
    • New flush door handles with illumination and EV-style alloy wheels add to its premium feel.
    • New color options are expected too

  1. Updated Interiors:
    • Although Tata hasn’t shown the inside yet, we expect:
      • A revised dashboard with soft-touch materials
      • New upholstery color choices
      • A larger 10.25-inch touchscreen available in more variants (currently only in the Racer variant)
      • A digital instrument cluster and 360-degree camera
  2. No Mechanical Changes:
    • The car will likely keep all its current five engine options, including:
      • 1.2-litre petrol (88hp) – with manual and DCT automatic gearboxes
      • 1.2-litre CNG (73.5hp) – manual only
      • 1.5-litre diesel (90hp) – manual only
      • 1.2-litre turbo petrol (120hp) in the Racer variant – with a 6-speed manual
      • The Altroz remains the only hatchback in India with a diesel engine.

Competition and Market Impact

The new Altroz will compete with Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, and Hyundai i20. While premium hatchback sales are declining due to the rising popularity of compact SUVs, Tata hopes this facelift will boost Altroz’s sales, which have dropped from 5,000 units a month in FY2021-22 to around 2,000 units now.

The Altroz facelift combines a stylish new design with modern features, aiming to attract more buyers in a competitive market.
