President Erdogan has repeatedly backed Pakistan—especially on Kashmir—trying to paint India as the regional aggressor. His government has even slammed Indian airstrikes and warned of “provocations,” echoing Islamabad’s talking points almost word for word.

Sure, Turkey and Pakistan share a military bromance. Both are feeling sidelined by Western powers. Both depend on China more than they’d like to admit. But here’s the irony—while Turkey cozies up to Pakistan, it’s pushing away one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.
India isn’t just a regional power anymore. It’s a global influencer. It’s a $3.7 trillion economy. And unlike Pakistan, it pays its bills.
Ankara’s Short-Term Win, Long-Term Loss
Turkey thinks it’s playing smart by “securitising” South Asia. But Ankara’s regional meddling—first backing Azerbaijan, now Pakistan—has only united India with Turkey’s rivals: Greece, Armenia, Iran, and Israel. In fact, India has already deepened ties with UAE, Saudi Arabia, and even Armenia—Turkey’s long-time opponents.
This isn’t just strategy. It’s a statement: back Pakistan, and you lose India.
