RCB fans, breathe easy—Phil Salt is back.
On Tuesday morning, Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s star batter touched down in Ahmedabad, the venue for the IPL 2025 final. Salt had flown home after Qualifier 1 to be with his family for the birth of his child. Now, with the biggest match of the season just hours away, he’s rejoined the squad.

Phil Salt has been electric this season. With a strike rate of 176.8 and 387 runs in 12 matches—including four fifties—he’s second only to Virat Kohli in RCB’s run charts. Salt didn’t train with the team on the eve of the final, which sparked rumours. But his timely return has put all doubts to rest.
And let’s be honest—Salt missing the final would’ve felt like ordering biryani and finding out they forgot the raita.
Salt’s journey: From KKR reject to RCB savior
When Kolkata Knight Riders released Phil Salt before the IPL 2025 mega auction, many fans raised eyebrows. But RCB saw his potential. They picked him up for ₹11.5 crore as a direct replacement for Faf du Plessis and paired him with Kohli at the top.
That bet paid off immediately. In the very first game of the season—ironically against KKR—Salt smashed a 31-ball 56 and shared a 95-run opening stand with Kohli. RCB didn’t win that night, but Salt made his point.
Later in the season, he hammered 65 off 33 balls against Rajasthan Royals in a tricky chase. Even in the low-scoring Qualifier 1, Salt stood tall, striking at 207.41 to guide Bengaluru into the final after Kohli’s early dismissal.
He’s not just in form—he’s in sync with the RCB DNA: bold, fearless, and always looking to dominate.
Kohli-Salt: A combo RCB fans can believe in
Salt and Kohli are RCB’s ideal opening pair. Kohli anchors and attacks. Salt swings freely. They complement each other like filter coffee and monsoon rain.
Backing them are Mayank Agarwal, skipper Rajat Patidar, and Jitesh Sharma—forming a batting core that has delivered time and again this season.
RCB has reached the final with grit, guts, and a bit of Salt. Can they finally end the title drought? With Phil Salt back in Ahmedabad, fans can dare to dream.
