Three police officers who were part of the security team for Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the deputy chief minister and opposition leader, got injured when a truck crashed into one of the vehicles in his convoy in Vaishali district, Bihar. This happened early Saturday while they were travelling from Madhepura to Patna. No other vehicles, including Tejashwi Yadav’s own car, were damaged.

The police said Yadav was returning to Patna after attending an event in Madhepura. The accident happened near a roadside tea stall close to the Goriya bridge in Vaishali. A speeding truck lost control and hit three to four vehicles in the convoy that had stopped for tea.

The three injured police officers were taken to the district hospital in Vaishali. One of them was sent to Patna Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Yadav said, “We had stopped at a tea stall while returning from Madhepura around 10 am. Suddenly, a speeding truck lost control and crashed into several vehicles. The driver and security officers got hurt. The accident happened just five feet from the tea stall.” He also visited the injured officers — Ram Nath Yadav, Lalan Kumar, and Dharmveer Kumar — at Hajipur Sadar Hospital before continuing his journey to Patna.

The accident caused traffic jams on the Hajipur-Muzaffarpur road, but police later cleared the road.

Lalit Mohan Sharma, the Vaishali police superintendent, said, “Doctors have been asked to give proper treatment to the injured. The truck was chased and caught at the Patedha toll plaza.”
