A shocking murder case is being investigated that involves three states — Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Meghalaya. Sonam Raghuvanshi, the wife of businessman Raja Raghuvanshi from Indore, has been arrested. She is accused of planning the murder of her husband during their honeymoon in Meghalaya.

Police say Sonam, along with her lover and hired killers, plotted to kill her husband while they were on their honeymoon.

Sonam was found early Monday morning at a roadside eatery (dhaba) on the highway between Varanasi and Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh. She had called her family to tell them where she was. Her family then informed the police in Indore, who worked with the Uttar Pradesh police to find her.

After being picked up by police, Sonam underwent a medical checkup and was sent to a support center. She will be handed over to Meghalaya police, who are leading the investigation.

Meghalaya police confirmed that they have arrested three men—one from Uttar Pradesh and two from Indore. These men admitted that Sonam hired them to kill her husband. One of the arrested, Akash Rajput, was found in Uttar Pradesh. He knew the other two men—Vishal Singh and Raj Kushwaha—and had traveled with them to Meghalaya.

Raj Kushwaha, believed to be Sonam’s lover, and Vishal Singh were arrested earlier by police in Indore. All three worked at a private company registered in the name of Sonam’s brother, Gaurav Raghuvanshi. Raj was the company’s accountant.

Sonam has not explained where she stayed during the days she was missing. She only said she was unwell.

Akash, who has a business degree, is being questioned about why he was involved.

Sonam’s father, Devi Singh, says she is innocent and is being wrongly accused. He has asked for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the case to find the truth.

The couple had gone missing on May 23 during their honeymoon in Cherrapunjee, Meghalaya. They were last seen leaving a homestay in Nongriat. Their scooter was found abandoned nearby.

Ten days later, Raja’s body was found in a deep gorge near Weisawdong Falls in East Khasi Hills. A machete, believed to be the weapon used to kill him, was also found nearby. Sonam was missing until Monday.

A local tourist guide said he saw the couple with three men on May 23 while they were trekking. The couple had hired a different guide instead of him.

Police are still investigating and may make more arrests soon.
