Project Details: A Big Step for Water Security

The plant will produce 300,000 cubic meters of clean water daily, providing drinking water to nearly one million people in the Makkah and Al-Baha regions. This will help Saudi Arabia tackle water shortages with sustainable solutions.

What the Project Includes:

  • Designing, building, and testing a seawater desalination plant using reverse osmosis technology
  • Constructing intake and outfall facilities for water flow
  • Setting up process units and pumping stations
  • Building a 600,000 cubic meter water storage facility
  • Installing advanced electrical and automation systems
  • Adding a solar power plant to make the project more energy-efficient

By using solar energy, the plant will reduce its environmental impact and align with Saudi Arabia’s goal of using more renewable energy.

Saudi Arabia is investing heavily in desalination projects to ensure a steady supply of clean water for its people. The Ras Mohaisen plant is part of this vision. ACWA Power, which is managing the project, is a leading developer of power and water projects in the Middle East. Its partnership with L&T and Lantania shows the growing global collaboration in water infrastructure.

L&T’s Commitment to Growth

L&T is expanding its global presence, especially in water treatment and infrastructure projects. Winning this contract proves its expertise in delivering large, high-tech solutions.
