A big fire broke out late Friday night at Marina Pinnacle, a 67-storey building in Dubai Marina. The building has both homes and offices, and more than 3,800 people were safely evacuated, according to a report.

The Dubai Media Office (DMO) shared updates on X (formerly Twitter), saying that 3,820 residents from 764 apartments were moved out of the building without anyone getting hurt. Civil Defence teams worked hard for almost six hours to put out the fire.

This morning, a massive fire started in a Dubai’s residential building.

Yet, the 3,820 residents were rescued without injuries.

I promise you, I have never seen a more efficient country than the UAE.

“Special teams made sure everyone got out safely, and their health and safety were the top priority,” DMO said. By 2:21 am, they confirmed that everyone had been evacuated safely.

Eyewitnesses said the fire started around 9:30 pm. One woman who lives on the 49th floor said she woke up smelling smoke. “My housemates called me, and we quickly went downstairs in our pyjamas. We saw thick smoke from the top floors, maybe near the 60th floor,” she said.

Another resident said that even an hour after the fire started, firefighters were still trying to control the flames. Videos taken at 11 pm showed the fire spreading to more floors.

Ambulance teams and medical staff were at the scene to help anyone in need. DMO also mentioned that mental health support and medical aid were being given to the affected residents.

Many people were seen waiting outside the building with their pets, while others moved towards nearby safe places. One woman said she walked to the Marina Towers Tram Station, but could still smell the smoke in the air.

This is not the first fire at Marina Pinnacle. In May 2015, a kitchen fire started on the 47th floor and spread to the floor above. That fire was also brought under control by Dubai Civil Defence.

The building is located close to The Torch, another high-rise that caught fire twice — once in 2015 and again in 2017. On the same night as this latest fire, another car caught fire in the Sulafa Tower parking area, which is just steps away from Marina Pinnacle.

Authorities are now working with the building’s developer to arrange temporary housing for the residents who cannot return to their apartments right away.
