YU7 SUV

Xiaomi’s next big thing, the YU7 SUV, is dropping sooner than anyone thought.

The Chinese tech giant, best known for smartphones, has officially moved up the YU7 SUV launch from July to end of June. The news came straight from Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, who posted the update on Weibo.

This move isn’t just about launching early. It’s a signal: Xiaomi is getting serious about the EV game.

From Phones to Power Wheels

Back in March 2024, Xiaomi entered the electric vehicle scene with the SU7 electric sedan, priced at RMB 215,900. It made waves—and sold like hotcakes.

Now, just months later, the YU7 SUV is stealing the spotlight.

It was first revealed on May 22, and ever since, it’s been building hype. Xiaomi’s showrooms started displaying it in Beijing on May 29. As of June 13, it’s available in 317 stores across 86 cities.

And people aren’t just looking—they’re lining up to buy.

Pre-Orders Crushing Records

According to Xiaomi president Lu Weibing, the YU7 SUV’s pre-orders have already outperformed the SU7—and not by a little. As of May 25, three times as many users had placed deposits for the YU7 compared to SU7 during the same period.

That’s huge.

Why? Because the YU7 seems to appeal to a wider crowd. It’s roomier, flashier, and feels more like a family-ready EV. The hype is real, and Xiaomi knows it.

Price Mystery Sparks Buzz

So, what’s the price?

At a recent investor meet on June 3, Lei Jun said the final pricing for the YU7 would be revealed just 1–2 days before the launch. He dismissed rumors that it would be priced at RMB 235,900, saying it won’t be just RMB 20,000 more than the SU7.

That leaves fans guessing—and speculating.

More Than Just an SUV

The launch event will also showcase other big products, including the Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro, powered by the brand’s new Xring O1 chip. Clearly, this isn’t just a car launch—it’s a Xiaomi flex.

And it’s working.

What’s Next?

Xiaomi has already delivered over 20,000 SU7s monthly for eight months straight. Now, with the YU7 SUV launch pushed ahead, expectations are sky-high. Lei Jun even hinted that the EV division may turn profitable by late 2025.

It’s bold. It’s fast. It’s happening.
