Zerodha co-founder Nithin Kamath recently shared on social media that his credit score is 747 — just a few points below the 750 mark usually required to join the credit rewards app CRED. He even posted a screenshot showing his score, which falls in the “Good” category, but not “Excellent.”

In a light-hearted tone, Kamath said, “My score is 747. So I’m not good enough for CRED,” and tagged CRED’s founder Kunal Shah in the post.

I did a credit check on @zerodhacapital to check out the flow, and my score is 747.

Kunal Shah quickly replied in a fun way too, saying, “I’ll call you and help you fix it. Glad you’re caring about scores and increasing awareness. More people need to do this :)”

How Did People on X (formerly Twitter) React?

Many users joined in the fun. Some jokingly said they had a better score than Kamath and shared screenshots to prove it. One person wrote, “I beat you,” while another said, “I can’t believe I have a better credit score than you.”

Others appreciated Kamath for talking about credit scores and raising awareness. But some also took the chance to criticize the credit rating system, calling it unfair and hard to fix if there’s an error. One user said, “CIBIL is a total scam. Fixing a mistake is a nightmare.”

A few even guessed why Kamath’s score might be lower, joking that he may have missed a loan payment or suggesting he follow finance tips from influencers on Instagram.
