A heartbreaking chapter closed on June 18 as Ayesha Khan, the veteran Pakistani actress, was found dead at her apartment in Karachi. She was 76.
Known for lighting up the screen with powerful performances, Ayesha had been living a quiet, isolated life in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 7. Her death came to light only after neighbors, concerned by a strong odor, alerted the police.
When officers arrived, they found her body in a decomposed state. It is believed that she passed away almost a week earlier. Her remains were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem, and later shifted to the Edhi Foundation mortuary in Sohrab Goth.
Police have not found signs of foul play so far. She had reportedly been battling health issues and had withdrawn from public life in recent years. Officers are now trying to contact any surviving relatives and have spoken to locals in the area.

Ayesha Khan was born on November 22, 1948, and was one of the most respected faces in Pakistani entertainment. She gained fame through timeless dramas like Bol Meri Machli, Ek Aur Aasman, Dehleez, Daraarein, and the historical series Tipu Sultan: The Tiger Lord and Akhri Chattan.
She also appeared in films such as Muskaan, Fatima, and even ventured into Bollywood with Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman. Her acting was intense, emotional, and always memorable.
Many fans grew up watching her on TV and admired her deep, commanding presence. Despite stepping away from the spotlight, she remained a symbol of golden-era television.
Her death sparked grief and shock across social media. Tributes from fellow actors and fans remembered her brilliance and mourned the lonely circumstances of her passing.
