After the incident, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) strongly criticized the carelessness in handling safety on sets. They said such negligence can no longer be ignored. AICWA demanded the immediate suspension of the Managing Director of Film City.
In a post on X, AICWA’s President, Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, requested Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, to order a high-level inquiry into the fire. He blamed the Film City MD and the Labour Commissioner of Mumbai for not enforcing fire safety rules, which puts thousands of workers at risk.
AICWA also called for criminal charges (FIR) against the producers of Anupamaa, the TV channel, the production house, and the Film City authorities. They even raised the possibility that the fire may have been started on purpose to claim insurance money — a serious accusation.
The association further said that any production house or channel found breaking fire safety rules should be blacklisted immediately to prevent future tragedies.
