On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump said that recent U.S. missile strikes caused serious damage to Iran’s nuclear sites. However, he also admitted that the intelligence reports about the attack were not very clear.
Speaking to reporters before attending a NATO meeting in The Hague, Trump said, “The intelligence says we don’t know. It could’ve been very severe. That’s what the intelligence suggests.”

This comes after media reports, , the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) believed the attacks only delayed Iran’s nuclear program by a few months. This goes against earlier claims from government officials who said the program had been completely destroyed.

Later, Trump added that he believed the attacks had set Iran’s nuclear plans back by “basically decades,” and said, “I don’t think they’ll ever do it again.”
He was joined by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. Both also questioned the accuracy of the DIA report.

Rubio said the U.S. will investigate how the DIA report was leaked and claimed that the media may have misunderstood or misreported what was actually in the report.
