In the glamorous world of Bollywood, real-life love stories don’t always have happy endings. One such story was between Karisma Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan. In 2002, the two actors got engaged, and fans expected a big wedding. But the engagement was suddenly called off, leaving many surprised.
Years later, in a rare interview with journalist Subhash K Jha, Karisma Kapoor finally spoke about this painful time in her life. She described it as deeply emotional and said she was not ready for what happened. “Everyone left me alone,” Karisma said, explaining how difficult it was to go through the heartbreak by herself. She also mentioned that she hopes no other girl has to go through the same experience.

Karisma shared that with time, she was able to heal and make peace with what happened. She accepted that life doesn’t always go as planned and believed everything was a part of destiny. She thanked the media for being respectful and sensitive during that tough time.
She also showed appreciation for her close family, who stood by her and helped her recover. She especially mentioned her parents, Babita and Randhir Kapoor, her sister Kareena, her grandmother Krishna Raj Kapoor, and her aunts Rima Jain and Ritu Nanda, along with a few close friends who supported her throughout.
Neither Karisma nor Abhishek ever revealed why the engagement ended. However, Amitabh Bachchan briefly talked about it on Koffee With Karan Season 1. He said it was a sensitive moment for both families. He added that sometimes, when things are not meant to be, it’s better to part ways peacefully—just like what happened in this case.
