Shefali Jariwala, popularly known as the Kaanta Laga girl, has passed away at 42. Initial reports claimed she died of a cardiac arrest, but Mumbai Police have not confirmed the cause yet. Her sudden death has left fans and the industry shocked.
According to police sources, Shefali was found unresponsive at her home in Andheri, Mumbai. She was rushed to Bellevue Hospital around 1 AM by her husband Parag Tyagi and three others. Sadly, she was declared dead on arrival. A forensics team visited her home later in the day, and her body has now been sent to Cooper Hospital for postmortem.
Police Still Investigating the Cause
Despite early claims that Shefali Jariwala died of cardiac arrest, Mumbai Police have clarified that no official cause has been established. A statement shared with news agency ANI said:
“Mumbai Police received information about this at 1 AM. Her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for postmortem. The cause of death is not yet clear.”
This statement makes one thing clear — any assumptions about a heart attack are premature. Investigations are ongoing, and postmortem results will likely bring more clarity in the coming days.
Shefali’s husband Parag Tyagi, visibly shaken, was seen exiting the hospital. A video now viral on social media shows him covering his face while leaving in a car. The grief was written all over his expression.

Shefali Jariwala rose to fame at just 20 with the hit remix video Kaanta Laga. Her bold look and electrifying performance made her a national sensation. Over the years, she featured in multiple music videos, reality shows like Bigg Boss 13, and Nach Baliye with Parag.
She was earlier married to Harmeet Singh of Meet Bros in 2004. The couple divorced in 2009. She later tied the knot with Parag Tyagi in 2015.
