Due to continuous heavy rain, several parts of the state are facing landslides, roadblocks, rising river levels, and power cuts. Tourists and locals are advised to remain cautious as the alert is in effect until June 30, with more rainfall expected in the first week of July. The famous Shimla-Kalka narrow-gauge railway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was temporarily suspended after overnight rainfall triggered landslides and uprooted trees near Koti in Solan.
Services have now resumed following restoration work. Over 120 roads across the state are currently blocked, including key sections of National Highway-5 between Shimla and Chandigarh. Authorities have urged travelers to postpone non-essential trips or take alternative routes. Local officials, disaster response teams, and police are on high alert.
Tourists have been strongly advised to stay indoors, avoid riverbanks and hilly trails, and keep track of weather updates. All adventure activities, including trekking and river rafting, have also been suspended. The IMD has warned of continued rain in the coming days, and travel restrictions may be extended depending on the weather situation.
