Google is changing the way Indians search. With AI Mode in Search, users can now ask questions and get full answers right in the results page. No need to open ten different links. This new AI feature is now rolling out in India.
But there’s a catch—it only works in English for now.

What Is AI Mode in Search?
AI Mode in Search is like having a personal assistant inside Google. Instead of showing just links, it gives you a full answer. It uses Google’s Gemini 2.5 AI model, which can break down your question into smaller parts and find detailed information from the web.
Let’s say you ask: “How to plan a 3-day trip to Kerala?”
AI Mode will give you a ready-made plan, with places to visit, tips, and links to read more.
How It Works
Google uses a smart method called query fan-out. It takes your big question, breaks it into smaller ones, searches many pages, and then builds a clean, full answer. This means more accurate info and less jumping between websites.
You can ask in three ways:
- Type your question
- Speak it using voice input
- Upload an image using Google Lens
For example, click a photo of a plant and ask how to care for it. Google will tell you the name, care steps, and even give links to buy tools.

How to Use AI Mode in India
Indian users will see a new “AI Mode” tab in the Google Search results and in the Google app’s search bar. Once it shows up, you’re good to go.
The feature is live on both mobile and desktop, but the rollout is gradual, so don’t panic if you don’t see it yet.
Why It Matters
This is big. India is one of the largest markets for Google. Bringing AI Mode in Search here means Google sees India as a global AI player.
AI Mode helps with complex or longer searches. Whether you are comparing phones, learning about a disease, or planning a trip—this tool makes it simple.
Current Limitations
Only English is supported right now. But Google says support for other Indian languages will come soon.
Also, if the AI is unsure of the answer, it will show the old search links instead. It’s still being tested and improved.
India is finally getting the AI-powered search experience the US had months ago. It’s simple, it’s smart, and it’s built for people who want fast, clear answers. If you use Google every day, this update is going to change how you search forever.
Try AI Mode in Search today. Ask anything—ask any way.
