The strike came shortly after Donald Trump announced that he would send more weapons to Ukraine, changing his earlier stance. He also criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling his comments on Ukraine nonsense.
In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy blamed Russia for ignoring peace talks and continuing the war.
“This attack shows that while efforts are being made to bring peace and stop the fighting, Russia is still not interested,” Zelenskyy said on social media.
He also said that Ukraine’s international partners know how to pressure Russia into stopping the war.
