A stunning and rare video has taken the internet by storm, showing a black panther walking alongside two spotted leopards on a quiet road in the Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu. The short 29-second clip, which was shared widely on social media, has amazed wildlife lovers and sparked excitement online.
The video was first posted by Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Parveen Kaswan on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, “Bagheera (black panther) and other friends for a night walk on the roads of Nilgiris. What a rare thing.” The video shows the three big cats calmly walking together under the night sky — a sight both beautiful and rare.

Not a Different Species
In another post, Kaswan explained that black panthers are not a different species. In fact, they are Indian leopards (Panthera pardus) with a special genetic condition called melanism, which gives them their dark coat. Under certain lighting, the usual leopard spots (called rosettes) can still be seen on their black fur.
While black panthers sometimes live in the same areas as normal leopards, it is extremely rare to catch them walking together like this — and even more rare to capture it on camera.
A Reminder to Protect Wildlife
Kaswan also highlighted the importance of protecting wildlife. He said that animals like these face threats such as habitat loss and poaching, and strong conservation efforts are needed to make sure they survive in the wild.
Internet Reacts with Joy
The video has been viewed more than 25,000 times and received many fun and emotional reactions. Some people made references to the famous character Bagheera from The Jungle Book, while others joked about them “looking for Sher Khan.” A few even commented on how beautiful and proud the animals looked.
Reactions like “That pride in her walk” and “Majestic!!!!” show just how deeply the video touched people and reminded everyone of the magic of nature.
A rare moment of a black panther walking peacefully with two leopards was captured in Tamil Nadu, leaving viewers amazed and reminding us of the importance of wildlife conservation.
