School Session Turns into Panic: Bangladesh Air Force Jet F-7 BGI Crashes Into School in Dhaka; One Dead, Several Injured

A Bangladesh Air Force training jet crashed into a school in Dhaka’s Uttara area on Monday afternoon, killing at least one person and injuring several others.

The plane, identified as an F-7 BGI, crashed around 1:06 PM on the premises of Milestone School and College, while students were attending classes. The jet had taken off for a routine training flight before it suddenly went down.

According to reports, at least 13 people were injured. Firefighters and army rescue teams quickly reached the scene. A spokesperson for the Bangladesh army confirmed that the jet belonged to the air force, but did not share any details about the pilot or the cause of the crash.

Lima Khan, a fire service official, said one person had died and four were injured. More details are yet to be shared.

An official from the school said the jet crashed near the main gate while classes were in session. “It happened during school hours. The plane crashed near the gate, and injured people are being rescued one by one,” the official told local news.

Video footage from the site showed fire and smoke rising from the school building, as rescue teams worked to secure the area and help the injured.

Authorities have started an investigation to find out what caused the crash. The F-7 BGI is a Chinese-made jet commonly used by the Bangladesh Air Force for training purposes.
