Xiaomi is making a comeback with a new smartphone – the Redmi Note 14 SE 5G, which will launch in India on July 28. It’s being promoted as a budget phone with “killer specs and killer price,” but it doesn’t look very new. Based on the details shared so far, it seems to be a slightly modified version of the Redmi Note 14 5G.
This isn’t the first time Xiaomi has used the SE branding. Back in 2022, they launched the Redmi Note 11 SE, which was actually a rebranded Redmi Note 10S—and it didn’t even come with a charger in the box.

Over the years, Xiaomi realized that launching too many Redmi Note models was confusing customers. So they slowed down a bit and also started focusing more on premium phones, especially with their Leica camera partnership.
The last phones in the Redmi Note series to launch in India were the Redmi Note 14, Note 14 Pro, and Note 14 Pro Plus, starting at Rs 18,999. The Redmi Note 14 SE is expected to be more affordable, but it’s unclear if Xiaomi will cut some features or remove the charger again.
Key Features of Redmi Note 14 SE:
- 6.67-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate and up to 2,100 nits brightness
- Protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5
- Powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra processor
- 5,110mAh battery
- In-display fingerprint sensor
- Dual speakers with Dolby Atmos support
- 50MP Sony main camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS)
Interestingly, these are the same specs as the regular Redmi Note 14, making it hard to tell the difference between the two. The only major change so far is the new burgundy-red color for the SE version.
Xiaomi says this launch is part of their celebration for completing 11 years in India. We’ll have to wait for more details to see how the Redmi Note 14 SE stands out.
