US President Donald Trump has asked big American tech companies like Google and Microsoft to stop hiring people from countries like India and China. Instead, he wants them to focus on creating jobs for Americans within the United States.
Speaking at an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit in Washington on Wednesday, Trump criticized the tech industry for being too focused on global profits. He said companies are taking advantage of America’s freedom and resources, but are building factories in China and hiring workers in India. “Those days are over under President Trump,” he declared.
Trump called on tech companies to show more loyalty to America. “Put America first,” he said. “Support your own country and help build it.”

At the event, Trump also announced three new executive orders to strengthen America’s position in the AI industry:
- National AI Plan – “Winning the Race”:
A new strategy to build more data centers and reduce regulations, helping tech companies grow within the US. - Keep AI Politically Neutral:
Trump wants AI tools, especially those made with government money, to be free from political bias. He criticized past efforts that focused on diversity and inclusion, saying they slowed down innovation. “We are getting rid of woke,” he said. - Support US-Made AI Products:
The third order encourages making and exporting American AI technology and cutting dependence on foreign countries for materials or development.
Trump also said he doesn’t like the term “artificial intelligence” because it makes the technology sound less powerful than it is. “It’s not artificial, it’s genius,” he said, hinting that the name might need a change in the future.
