A tragic incident occurred in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district on Friday morning, where the roof of a government primary school in Piplodi village collapsed, leading to the death of seven students and injuries to 20 others.
What Happened?
According to Jhalawar Collector Ajay Singh Rathore, the accident took place between 7:45 and 8 am. The roof of a classroom suddenly fell, burying several students under the debris. Rescue teams quickly arrived and rushed the injured to the hospital.
“Seven children sadly lost their lives, and the injured ones are recovering. They’ll be discharged soon,” said the collector.
Action Taken
A preliminary investigation has started, and five officials from the State Education Department have been suspended. Their names are:

- Javed Ahmed
- Ramvilas
- Kanhaiya Lal Sugan
- Badrilal Lodha
Committees have been formed to look into the incident, and strict action is promised against those responsible.
Warnings Were Already Given
The administration had previously asked school authorities to report any building in poor condition. Teachers were also told to declare a holiday if they believed a building wasn’t safe.
However, in this case, teachers said they did not see any warning signs, though the collapse might have happened due to rainwater gathering on the roof.
Current Situation in Jhalawar
After the tragic incident, tension rose in the village. Local residents protested and even clashed with police, demanding accountability and answers from the authorities.
To maintain peace, extra police were deployed in the area.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Harsh Raj Singh Khareda said, “This is a very unfortunate accident. We’re talking to the villagers and families of the children. The collector also met with the victims’ families.”

Jhalawar SP Amit Kumar assured that the government is doing everything to provide the best treatment to the injured students and support the families who lost their children.
