Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played a brilliant knock of 118 runs, helping India reach 304/6 by Tea on Day 3 of the fifth and final Test match against England in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 at Kennington Oval, London. With this, India leads by 281 runs.

How the Day Unfolded:
India began the second session at 189/4, with Jaiswal on 85 not out and captain Shubman Gill on 11 not out.
However, Gill was out early in the session, scoring only 11 runs, dismissed by Gus Atkinson.
Despite the early loss, Jaiswal reached his century in 127 balls during the 51st over. He continued to play confidently but was eventually dismissed for 118 runs off 164 balls by Josh Tongue in the 65th over.
India also lost Karun Nair (17) during this session, who was also dismissed by Atkinson.
Unbeaten Partnership Before Tea:
After Jaiswal’s dismissal, Dhruv Jurel came to the crease and joined Ravindra Jadeja. The duo played a steady hand and added an unbeaten 31-run partnership in 40 balls.
India reached the 300-run mark just before Tea, thanks to Jurel’s aggressive over that fetched 13 runs off Josh Tongue.
At Tea, Jadeja and Jurel were still batting, and India’s total stood at 304/6, leading by 281 runs.
England’s Bowling:
- Gus Atkinson: 3 wickets for 99 runs in 23 overs
- Josh Tongue: 2 wickets for 100 runs in 26 overs
- Jamie Overton: 1 wicket for 74 runs in 18 overs
How India Reached This Position:
Earlier in the day, India started at 75/2, with Jaiswal on 51 not out and Akash Deep on 4 not out.
Jaiswal continued his fine form, and together with Deep, they built a strong partnership.
Deep impressed with the bat, scoring his first-ever fifty in Test cricket, and the duo completed a 50-run stand for the third wicket.
This series now holds the record for the most 100-run partnerships (18) in a Test series in the 21st century, beating the previous best of 17 in the 2003-04 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
