
Indian actor Anupam Tripathi, known for his role as Ali Abdul (Player 199) in Netflix’s hit series Squid Game, will soon be seen as the main lead in a Korean horror movie titled Rhapsody for the Dead. This is his first lead role in a Korean film, and it’s expected to release later this month in South Korea and other Asian countries.

Anupam Shares His Feelings on Instagram
Anupam shared his excitement on Instagram, saying,
“My first Korean movie Rhapsody for the Dead, as a lead actor, is coming to theatres soon. Honestly, I’m nervous, excited, and emotional. From not having my name in the credits to now being the lead—it’s hard to describe this feeling. I’m truly thankful and feel blessed.”
About the Film
The movie is directed by Kim Hyeon-joon and was recently shown at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. The story follows a young woman named Soo-ah, who is being chased by an exorcist named Anuat—played by Anupam Tripathi.

Anupam’s Journey from India to Korea
Anupam studied at the National School of Drama in India and later got a scholarship to study at the Korea National University of Arts in 2010. When he first moved to Korea, he didn’t know the language, but now he speaks it fluently.
Since Squid Game, he has worked in both Korean and Indian projects. In India, he was last seen in Anubhav Sinha’s web series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack.
