What happens when you play baseball in space? One astronaut just showed us—and it’s amazing!

Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata, a veteran of five space missions, recently shared a fun video of himself playing solo baseball inside the International Space Station (ISS). Thanks to microgravity, he effortlessly pitched, hit, and caught the ball—all by himself!

Elon Musk Shares the Viral Moment

The clip, originally posted by Wakata on X (formerly Twitter), caught the attention of tech billionaire Elon Musk, who reposted it for his millions of followers. Wakata’s caption read: “It’s baseball season… In microgravity, you don’t need a whole team—you can play all the positions!”

A Legendary Space Career

Wakata retired from JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) in 2024 after nearly 20 years as an astronaut. With over 500 days in space, he even made history as the first Japanese commander of the ISS. His creative zero-gravity baseball game is just one example of how astronauts find joy in space.

This lighthearted moment reminds us that space isn’t just about science—it’s also about human creativity and fun!
