‘Worst Lifeguards Ever!’ Monkeys Crash Tourist’s Swim in Thailand

What started as a peaceful swim turned into a full-blown monkey ambush—would you have kept your cool?

Imagine enjoying a peaceful swim in a stunning hotel pool, surrounded by lush greenery. For British tourist Kane Smith, this dreamy scene quickly turned into a nightmare when a group of monkeys decided to join him, uninvited.

From One Monkey to a Full Gang

At first, only one monkey appeared near the pool. But within moments, a whole troop surrounded Smith, creeping closer as he tried to stay calm. The video he captured shows his growing panic as he pleads, “No, go away!” and “Don’t come near me!”

Some monkeys drank from the pool, while others prowled around, completely ignoring his fear. Smith later described it as “the scariest moment of my life”—thinking he might not escape unharmed.

Smith posted the clip on March 19, and it quickly spread across social media. The footage serves as a wild reminder that even in controlled environments, nature can surprise us.

Luckily, Smith made it out safely—but his story is a cautionary tale for travelers visiting areas with wildlife. Always stay aware, and maybe keep an eye out for unexpected pool guests!
