Union Minister Piyush Goyal recently spoke at the Startup Mahakumbh 2025 in New Delhi, where he encouraged Indian startups to focus more on advanced technologies like semiconductors, machine learning, robotics, and AI instead of sectors like grocery delivery and ice cream brands created by wealthy families. He stressed that real innovation comes from solving big, tech-driven problems—not just luxury businesses.

Following this, EaseMyTrip CEO and co-founder Rikant Pittie shared his views on LinkedIn. He supported Goyal’s statement and talked about how EaseMyTrip grew from a small, self-funded startup into a global travel technology company.

Pittie praised the minister’s leadership, saying it motivates startups to think big, innovate constantly, and focus on sustainable growth. He agreed that startups should look beyond short-term solutions and work towards deep technology and long-term innovation.

He also shared EaseMyTrip’s big plan: the launch of 4,000 electric buses by 2028 with an initial investment of ₹200 crore. This project, under the brand Easy Green Mobility, aims to promote eco-friendly and self-reliant travel in India. He added that this move supports India’s goals of sustainability and reducing dependence on foreign technology.

An important step in this journey was their acquisition of YoloBus, a company known for transforming intercity travel with comfort, sustainability, and efficiency. Using this success, EaseMyTrip started building its own electric mobility services.

Pittie said their mission is not just to make buses, but to change the way people travel in India and create jobs by supporting local talent and businesses.

He ended the post on a hopeful note:
“Together, we are building a future that is electric, sustainable, and proudly Indian. The future is bright—and we’re just getting started.”
