Tesla has officially opened its first showroom and service center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking a major step in its global expansion. This move comes even though there have been past tensions between CEO Elon Musk and the Saudi government.
The grand opening, which attracted large crowds, introduced Saudi customers to Tesla’s popular models, including the Model 3, Model Y, and the much-awaited Cybertruck. Tesla also plans to set up temporary stores in Jeddah and Dammam in the near future.
This launch is seen as a boost to Saudi Arabia’s plan to push for electric vehicles (EVs) as part of its Vision 2030, which aims to reduce the country’s reliance on oil. However, there are some challenges ahead. The extreme heat in Saudi Arabia could affect the performance of EV batteries, and the country’s limited charging stations may make it harder for people to use electric cars.

Tesla’s entry into Saudi Arabia comes at a time when its competitor, Lucid Motors, is also expanding in the country, with plans to build a plant in Jeddah. This shows Saudi Arabia’s growing focus on green mobility and electric vehicles.
