Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is all set to return to the big screen on June 20 with his new sports comedy-drama, Sitaare Zameen Par. However, the actor himself is unsure if the film will do well in theatres.
In a recent interview with Baradwaj Rangan on Galatta Plus, Aamir shared that his movie might be “ill-timed” because right now, only action films are doing well at the box office. He explained, “My movie is a comedy, but currently, audiences are only watching action films. This happens with me all the time—when I release a comedy, action is in trend, and when I release action, people want something else.”
Aamir added that the movie will be released only in theatres, and not on YouTube or any OTT platform. So, if people miss the theatrical release, they might not get to watch it later.

The actor also admitted that he’s feeling stressed because he doesn’t know how the audience will react. “I’m happy with the movie. We made what we set out to make. But whether it will succeed at the box office—I really don’t know,” he said.
About the Movie:
Sitaare Zameen Par tells the story of a former basketball coach who gets into trouble with the law. As punishment, he is asked to coach a group of individuals on the autism spectrum and also pay a fine. The journey becomes emotional and uplifting.
The film is produced by Aamir Khan’s production house and also stars Genelia Deshmukh as his love interest. The makers describe it in a fun way as:
“1 short-tempered basketball coach, 10 energetic stars, and their journey together.”
The film promises to be an inspiring and heartwarming story about second chances and meaningful connections.
