A filmmaker from Ahmedabad, Mahesh Kalawadia, also known as Mahesh Jirawala, has gone missing after a tragic plane crash in the city. His family fears that he may have been killed, even though he was not on the plane.
The incident happened on June 12, when an Air India flight headed to London crashed into the campus of a medical college in Meghaninagar, Ahmedabad. The crash killed 241 people on the flight and 29 people on the ground.

Mahesh lived in Naroda and used to direct music albums. On the day of the crash, he called his wife, Hetal Kalawadia, around 1:14 PM to tell her that his meeting near Law Garden was over and he was coming home. But he never returned.
Hetal said she tried calling him later, but his phone was switched off. Police later traced his phone’s last location to a spot just 700 meters from the crash site. His scooter and mobile phone are also missing, and the route his phone traced was not his usual way home, which makes things even more suspicious.

The family has submitted DNA samples to the authorities, hoping they can confirm if Mahesh was one of the people killed on the ground. Many of the bodies found at the crash site were severely burnt or disfigured, making identification difficult.
So far, 47 victims have been identified through DNA testing.
The family is still waiting for answers and hoping for some clarity in this tragic situation.
