Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Air India Announces ₹25 Lakh Help for Families of Victims

Air India has announced that it will give ₹25 lakh as an interim financial help to the families of those who died in the recent Ahmedabad plane crash.

In a statement on social media (X), the airline said, “We will provide ₹25 lakh (around 21,000 GBP) to the families of the people who lost their lives, and to the only survivor, to support their immediate financial needs.” This amount is in addition to the ₹1 crore (about 85,000 GBP) that Tata Sons had earlier announced.

Air India also shared that it stands in full support with the families of the victims. “Our teams on the ground are doing everything they can to help during this very difficult time,” the airline said.

The tragic incident happened when an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner, flight number AI171, crashed into a medical college complex shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday afternoon.

The plane was carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members. Sadly, 241 people lost their lives in the crash. Only one passenger survived.
