Several hospitals in Kolkata are now using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve the way they care for patients and manage their daily operations. Many hospitals have already started using AI to monitor patients more closely and offer better services, while others are working on going fully digital by the end of April. Hospital leaders believe these changes will bring a big improvement in how private hospitals function.
How AI is Helping Patients
Some hospitals are using AI for better patient care. For example, Charnock Hospital has launched an advanced system that allows health workers to monitor patients from a distance. Each bed now has sensors that track important health signs like heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, oxygen levels, temperature, and ECG. This system gives real-time alerts if something goes wrong, helping doctors and nurses respond quickly.

Charnock’s emergency head, Dr. Nishant Agarwal, said 60% of the hospital’s beds now have this system. A special team is always ready to act if an alert comes in. They plan to cover all non-ICU beds with this system soon.
New Digital Services for Patients
Woodlands Hospital is going fully digital. Patients will soon be able to book OPD (Outpatient Department) appointments and make payments online, avoiding long queues. AI will also be used to screen patients in real-time. The hospital expects to complete this digital shift by the end of April.

Manipal Hospitals has already been using a digital system called HIS (Hospital Information System) across its network. They’ve partnered with Fuji Film to use AI for better and faster diagnostics. Manipal also launched India’s first AI-based nurse handover system using the Gemini AI platform and has an AI system to help monitor patients in ICUs more efficiently. In their Kolkata hospital, they are planning to introduce more tech-based solutions soon.
Narayana Hospitals is also using AI to monitor critical patients in their Intensive Treatment Units (ITUs). Their system helps predict health risks and gives doctors real-time data. It also suggests the best treatment options to doctors, helping improve patient outcomes—especially for heart conditions.
Conclusion
Overall, hospitals in Kolkata are embracing AI to make healthcare smarter, faster, and more reliable. From automatic patient monitoring to online bookings and faster discharges, these changes aim to make hospital visits easier and safer for everyone.
