On Saturday morning, a serious accident happened during the Amarnath Yatra 2025 in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district, where five buses collided with each other. The accident occurred around 8 AM near Chanderkoot, along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
What Happened?
According to the police, the crash happened when the brakes of the last bus in a convoy failed, causing it to lose control. The bus hit other buses that were parked at a langar (community kitchen) stop near Chanderkote.

As a result, 36 pilgrims (Yatris) suffered minor injuries. Most of the injured were taken to Ramban District Hospital, where they were treated and discharged after receiving first aid.
Officials Respond
Ramban Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan confirmed that four buses were damaged, and most of the injured were willing to continue their journey after treatment. Only 3 to 4 people may not be able to continue due to their injuries.
Ramban SSP Kulbir Singh said the convoy had stopped for breakfast when the accident happened.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh assured that there was no need to worry, and that all arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra are being carefully monitored by the administration.
